  •   Eckhart on waiting:  "Waiting is a state of mind. Basically, it means that you want the future, you don't want the present...Is your goal taking up so much of your attention that you reduce the present moment to a means to an end?...Are you waiting to start living?...It is certainly helpful to know where you are going, or at least the general direction... the outer purpose is to arrive at your goal or destination...  the journey's inner purpose...has nothing to do with where you are going or what you are doing, but everything to do with how.."

"the outer purpose belongs to the horizontal dimension of space and time; the inner purpose concerns a deepening of you Being in the vertical dimension of the timeless Now...There is no point in putting off living your life even though it seems as if we will never do, or get to do, what we want.  It may seem as if our outer purpose will take too long to achieve, so pay attention to your inner purpose... Your inner journey only has [one] step, the step you are taking right now... it already contains within itself all of the other steps as well as the destination." Every action carries within it the seeds of all other actions... [This present step] becomes transformed into an expresson of perfecton, an acto of great beauty and quality.  It will have taken you into Being and the light of Being will shine through it."
